The sunrise in Washington DC is hard to top. The usually humming city is quiet in the early hours. The monuments feel more reverent, the light glows a golden hue that lasts only a few minutes. It’s a surreal feeling to have the city almost to yourself.
All that to say, it’s the most incredible place for an engagement session. If you’re a couple that frequents Washington DC, waking up for a Lincoln Memorial engagement session is absolutely worth it. The reflection pool lends a magical quality to the images, while the columns and dramatic light inside the monument create opportunities to play with light in new and unique ways.
Sam and Sean met me for this session in mid-November, and while chilly at first, the sun warmed us fairly quickly. I love that their Lincoln Memorial engagement session starts at the monument, but during our walk, we found tree-lined paths that feel like Paris and were able to peruse the gardens at the Smithsonian. Another bonus? DC is incredibly pet friendly, so bringing their sweet furbabe was no problem. So, friends, when considering a place to have your engagement session, consider this. A morning in Washington DC, a coffee in Georgetown after, or just a stroll with your pup in the city.
