Adan and Milka
Spoiler alert-she said YES!
Capturing this surprise proposal for Adan and Milka was so fun and such an honor to be part of. Planning a proposal can be daunting, but having a photographer there to capture this exciting moment will make it worth it.
This San Antonio Botanical Gardens proposal story starts long before Adan reached out to me about photographing it when the couple met in engineering school. It’s up for debate who fell for who first, but the good news is that they realized the feeling was mutual!
When Adan reached out to me about photographing his proposal we were faced with first finding the perfect spot. Milka knew they were getting couples’ photos taken so she wanted some input on the location. After settling on the botanical gardens, the next step was figuring out just how he could surprise her.
We devised a plan to start the session just like any other couples session. We explored the desert greenhouse and then headed to the citrus garden. I knew this would be the perfect spot for Adan to propose because the light is always gorgeous and it’s usually not busy. Our code was “Oh wow, you look so cute, let me take a photo with your phone”! So, after a few photos, I said our key phrase, and Adan came over to get his phone out of my bag…and sneakily get the ring ready! He headed back over to Milka, dropped to his knee, and the rest is history!
I had champagne tucked away in my bag to celebrate as well and it was so fun to see Milka so elated and watch them celebrate!
After they were officially engaged, we explored the gardens some more. We made time for the Frida Kahlo exhibit, which was extra special as Milka is from Mexico City and has been to the real “Blue House”.
